Temple Israel is Ottawa’s Reform congregation where Jewish Life Happens — committing ourselves to Kehilah K’lal Yisrael, and Tikun Olam.
We are a dynamic and welcoming congregation (Kehilah) where varied Jewish experiences offer pathways to learn and to experience God for all, respecting tradition and creating new celebrations.
We appreciate at Temple Israel that there are so many ways to partake in Jewish life. Some of us like to sing and pray, some of us like to engage in traditional texts, and of course some of us live to schmooze and nosh. Temple Israel can be your spiritual hub to gather as one.

Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat Service Attendance
No need to pre-register to attend in person. Capacity is limited in accordance with guidance from Ottawa Public Health and government recommendations. We ask that participants be double vaccinated (children included) plus 14 days and symptom-free; wear masks and respect social distancing. When you arrive you’ll need to sign in with your contact information.
We’ll continue to use Zoom and Facebook and are refining the best way to meet our synagogue needs, both in person and virtual.
Temple Vaccination Policy
Temple Israel has made every effort during the pandemic to keep our facilities clean and to provide a safe place for our community. In our ongoing effort to further reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and consistent with the Province of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate Program, Temple Israel requires proof of vaccination (issued by a government entity) for all staff, members and attendees at services and events, that are 12 years old and up to gain entry to the Temple building for Temple services and events. This will be revised when vaccination is available for younger cohorts.
Temple members and guests will be asked to present proof of vaccination either via forms or through a screenshot on their phone as well as a piece of photo ID. Those who are either unvaccinated or who are unable to provide proof of vaccination will be denied access to the building. Events that include children under 12 (e.g., Bar/Bat Mitzvas) will be handled at the discretion of Temple staff and leaders.
Members or guests who are not vaccinated due to medical reasons will be asked to provide a medical exemption certificate from a physician.
As always, members and guests are asked to screen for covid symptoms, use hand sanitizer on entering the building, always wear a mask in the building and its vicinity, and observe physical distancing. Please do not come to Temple if you are feeling unwell.
